Many patients start visiting a chiropractor to help with issues such as chronic pain, muscle stiffness, injury recovery, etc. However, a chiropractor can help improve your overall wellness and can be beneficial even for those who are not experiencing a chronic health condition. Chiropractic services can help reduce stress, improve posture, and more!
Doctors of Chiropractic (DCs) care for patients of all ages, with a variety of health conditions. DCs are especially well known for their expertise in caring for patients with back pain, neck pain and headaches…particularly with their highly skilled chiropractic adjustments. They also care for patients with a wide range of injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system, involving the muscles, ligaments and joints. These painful conditions often involve or impact the nervous system, which can cause referred pain and dysfunction distant to the region of injury. DCs also counsel patients on diet, nutrition, exercise, healthy habits, and occupational and lifestyle modification.
Anyone with a nervous system is someone who can benefit from chiropractic care. Chiropractic care helps maintain a good mind to body connection, promoting the inborn self healing and regulating powers of the body.
Chiropractic adjustments can help provide relief from a wide variety of symptoms including:
-Chronic pain
-Frequent headaches
-Stiff muscles
-Reduced range of motion/mobility issues
-& So much more
Going to the chiropractor regularly also yields many ongoing benefits and can improve your overall health and wellness!
Chiropractic is widely recognized as one of the safest drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of neuromusculoskeletal complaints. Although chiropractic has an excellent safety record, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. The risks associated with chiropractic, however, are very small. Many patients feel immediate relief following chiropractic treatment, but some may experience mild soreness, stiffness or aching, just as they do after some forms of exercise. Current research shows that minor discomfort or soreness following receiving an adjustment typically fades within 24 hours.
The chiropractic adjustment is a manual procedure that utilizes the highly refined skills developed during the doctor of chiropractic’s intensive years of chiropractic education. The chiropractic physician typically uses his or her hands–or an instrument–to adjust the joint, particularly the spine, in order to restore or enhance joint function. This often helps resolve joint inflammation and reduces the patient’s pain. Chiropractic adjustments are a highly controlled procedure that rarely causes discomfort. The chiropractor adapts the procedure to meet the specific needs of each patient. Patients often note positive changes in their symptoms immediately following treatment.
Adjustment of a joint may result in the release of a gas bubble between the joints, which makes a popping sound. The same thing occurs when you “crack” your knuckles. The noise is caused by the change of pressure within the joint, which results in gas bubbles being released. There is usually minimal, if any, discomfort involved.
From Week zero to week forty, we welcome all new and expecting mothers! Dr. Leilani is one of the only Webster Certified Chiropractors in Story County. Her passion lies in working with pregnant mothers, ensuring their bodies are responding to pregnancy in the best possible way. For all the stages in pregnancy we have specified pillows and tables to create a comfortable experience with every need.
For baby and mother both, chiropractic care is beneficial and safe. Chiropractic care for pregnant moms can create better birth outcomes, easier, quicker labors, optimal positioning, and nerve supply for babies as they grow and develop.
A study by the American Medical Association found that women who received regular chiropractic care during their third trimester carried and delivered more comfortably. Another study concluded that mothers decreased the need for analgesics by half during their delivery with regular chiropractic adjustments.
With prenatal chiropractic care, the average time spent in labor can decrease and care can assist with intrauterine constraints. The growing pains with mom can be helped and prevented, things like sciatica and round ligament pain. Pregnancy chiropractic care has also been shown to help mothers get well, stay well, and be their best—before, during, and after pregnancy.
Absolutely! Chiropractic wellness for children has no age requirement, it is never too soon! Caring for a child is something we hold to the highest honor and we do not take it lightly. This is one of Dr. Leilani and Dr. Nash’s specialties.
A child’s health was one thought to be determined by the presence or absence of symptoms. It is now recognized that not only is this not the case, but health and quality of life are best defined by a child’s ablility to integrate, interpret and respond appropriately to experiences and stimuli in their environment.
Pediatric chiropractic care is about empowering your children in fully expressing their greatest gifts connected to their mind, body, and spirit. The repair, growth, and function of every cell, tissue, and organ in the body is dictated by the nervous system, which is what we treat!
New life is amazing, chiropractic adjustments for newborns are safe, gentle, and help your baby adapt! Chiropractic wellness care is about being proactive. The sooner your baby gets adjusted leads the way for your baby to fully experience life physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The challenges your newborn can face during the birthing process are large, ranging from physical, chemical, and emotional hurdles. The best start in life happens when being able to fully integrate the birth process. If your baby does not fully integrate the birth process, they may store these experiences in their body as a subluxation, leaving them predisposed to symptoms that may manifest later in life.
Cupping therapy is a form of alternative treatment where cups are placed on various parts of the body, creating suction. This suction force expands tiny blood vessels under the skin, sending more blood to the area to stimulate your body’s natural healing process.
Cupping therapy has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide range of health conditions. Cupping therapy can relieve pain, improve circulation, remove toxins from your body, and so much more!
